Patricia Popelier is professor (hoogleraar) at the University of Antwerp. She is a member of the research group for Constitutional and Administrative Law.
In 1997 she obtained a PhD for her thesis on Legal Certainty as a Legal Principle of Proper Law Making awarded with the F. Collin Award 1998.
She is President of the Interuniversity Centre for Legislation, Vice-President of the European Association of Legislation and member of the editing board of Tijdschrift voor Wetgeving . She wrote several books and articles on the rule of law, democracy, forms of state, legal certainty, principles of proper law making, the law making process, the application of law in time and the constitutional court.
She teaches Sources and Principles of Law and a Debate Class to bachelor students in law, Introduction to Law and Public Institutions to bachelor students in political, social and communication sciences, Legislative Studies and a Seminar on Constitutional Law to master students in law at the University of Antwerp
