Panos Koutrakos is Professor of European Union Law at the City University London, City Law School.
Previously, Prof. Koutrakos held a position as Professor of European Union Law and Jean Monnet Chair in European Law at the University of Bristol (2006-2012). He also taught at the University of Durham (Professor of Law: 2004-2006; Lecturer in Law: 1999-2002) and the University of Birmingham (Reader in EU law: 2002-2004). He has been Jean Monnet Research Fellow at the University of Michigan (2005) and Visiting Professor at the University of Iowa (2000, 2002), and Sydney (2007).
Professor Koutrakos is editor of the European Law Review. He writes in the area of EU law, in particular EU external relations, including trade relations, Common Foreign and Security Policy and the European Security and Defence Policy, and the law of the single market, with emphasis on the free movement of goods and services. He is the author of, amongst others, EU International Relations Law (2006, Hart Publishing) and Trade, Foreign Policy and Defence in EU Constitutional Law (2001, Hart Publishing).
