Stephen Darwall is the Andrew Downey Orrick Professor of Philosophy at Yale University and John Dewey Distinguished University Professor Emeritus at the University of Michigan. He has written broadly on the history and foundations of ethics, and his books include Impartial Reason, The British Moralists and the Internal ‘Ought’: 1640-1740, Philosophical Ethics, Welfare and Rational Care, and, most recently, The Second-Person Standpoint: Morality, Respect, and Accountability. He has also edited a number of anthologies in normative ethics and metaethics and is, with David Velleman, a founding editor of "The Philosophers’ Imprint".
